Does Anyone Else Suspect That Stephanie Meyer Possibly Got Her Ideas From The Vampire Diaries Series?

The Vampire Diaries was published long before Twilight ever was. I haven’t read the books, but I have flipped through them before and have read all the Twilight books…The plots are too similar.I can’t help but suspect…I don’t like twilight but I don’t bash it either. What do you think ???

POLL: The Vampire Diaries or Twilight?

    The similarities are uncanny.
It’s sort of sad, because even the Twilight fans can recognize them and they claim that Vampire Diaries is a rip-off, even though it was released around a decade before Twilight.
Stephenie Meyer maybe did pull some of her ideas from other books that she has read or shows that she has watched. Pretty much everyone does that.
But, there is no proving that she copied from The Vampire Diaries. She definitely won’t say out loud, “Oh, yeah, I totally copied those books,”, and there is no other way that someone can prove that.
The whole idea that both the stories had is a little typical and cliche though, to be honest. It probably wouldn’t be that hard to come up with it without reading the Vampire Diaries.
So, basically, I think it’s really possible, but in the end, there’s no way of proving it.

I have no doubt that Stephanie has used ideas from other novels, in fact I have another example.
I’ve never read VD so I’m not to sure about that, but I have read the Sookie Stackhouse Novels/The Southern Vampire Mysteries. The first novel is about Sookie, a telepath (someone that can read minds, just in case someone didn’t know ;) who falls in love with a Vampire. But, she can’t read the Vampires mind. Also, he boss is a shape shifter, and they have a fling. These novels were created before Twilight, but don’t they sound familiar?
Twilight is about Bella, who falls in love with a Vampire, who can read minds. But, the Vampire can’t read Bella’s mind. Bella is best friends with a shape shifter, and they have a sort of fling.
    Hmm.
    Just throwing some ideas around.

I don’t know, i want to read The Vampire Diaires though. I’ve just began reading Interview with the Vampire though and i feel as if some ideas have been used. The vampire drinks on animal blood, and when he becomes a vampire the description of how clear everything is seems pretty much like Bella’s.

Author Stephenie Meyer has been accused of plagiarizing small portions of Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in her Twilight series, from a novel called The Nocturne by Jordan Scott. Of course he publisher says that is without merit. So, it’s your decision if you want to believe it or not.

In my opinion, I don’t give a crap. I mean who the hell cares?! It’s not like we can go back in time and change anything. Sure the plots are similar. But there are tons of books out there that are similar to each other in some way. Both series were enjoyable while I was reading them. But now I’ve found better series to follow.

Doesn’t matter, Twilight is the more popular one.

of course Stephenie Meyer got her ideas from other sources many sources not just Vampire Diaries– even movies, just watch Underworld, there is also the novels that she admits to that are named in the twilight series, and check out Blood & Chocolate(book) and read the transformation details there & the ones described in twilight… but there are things that are unique to her… & no matter what you have to admit that her style of writing takes you into a different world… there are few authors that can do that, that when you read the story you get lost in it & you can see what you’re reading
